
STANDPOINT is a 5-company consortium established in November 2009, led by the Irish wave-energy development company, Wavebob Ltd. and primarily funded by the European Commission’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
The consortium’s primary aim is to demonstrate that a point absorber wave-energy converter or WEC is the most suitable technology to be adopted as the internationally standardized method of harvesting energy from the ocean waves. In order to prove this, a full-scale, pre-commercial, grid-connected Wavebob WEC will be deployed off the coast of Portugal. Read More
